He has a special interest in complex coronary artery interventions, and has been a leading proponent of using coronary physiology to guide coronary interventions. Dr. Roberts also has an interest in clinical research, and has been the principal investigator in more than 45 clinical and interventional cardiology trials. His current research has focused on improving success rates in radial artery access for cardiac catheterization, especially the use of ultrasound guided radial artery access.

Dr. Roberts also has interests in structural heart procedures. He currently performs TAVR (transcatheter aortic valve replacement), balloon aortic valvuloplasty, atrial septal defect and patent foramen ovale closure, and aortic and left ventricular pseudoaneurysm closure. These are all techniques that once required surgery, but are now performed percutaneously in the cardiac cath lab.
